OFFICIAL NOTICE: Misconduct Penalty Issued to Premier Houston by the Nova Scotia Hockey & Energy Board

Screaming About His Own Rulebook

🛡️Background

The NSHEB (Nova Scotia’s un-official-but-oh-so-necessary watchdog over electricity rates and sideline parenting) has reviewed Premier Houston’s theatrics. Claiming on social media that Nova Scotial Power should not appy to the Energy Review Board for a rate increase — or at least a smaller one. He’s ramping up booing at the refs—when it was his own lawbook that wrote the rules.

📋Findings

  1. Carbon-Free by 2035 (Net-Zero by 2035)
Not 2030—but still future-y, still expensive.
This is like demanding solar-powered Zambonis and no wooden sticks, but giving them five extra years to pay it off.
  2. 80% Renewable Energy by 2030
That’s half the rink powered by clean energy—but the other half still costs an arm and a leg while we build the infrastructure.
  3. Population Doubling Demands More Infrastructure
Imagine the league doubling attendance overnight—and building two new arenas per city. That’s what a doubling population scenario does: strains the grid, inflates the budget, and increases rate pressure.
  4. Accelerated Investment Crunch
All these goals—carbon-free, renewables, infrastructure expansion—are fueling big investors’ interest and the need for giant price tags on upgrades.

Together, the mandate for carbon-free electricity by 2035, the federal push for electric cars by the same year, and Nova Scotia’s plan to double its population are creating a perfect storm of investment pressure. The province isn’t just keeping the lights on anymore—it’s trying to power twice as many homes, five times as many EV chargers, and twice as many arenas, all while phasing out coal. It’s no wonder the bill arriving at centre ice looks like a Stanley Cup bar tab.

🚨Infraction

Premier Houston is penalized as follows:

  • 2-Minor Penalty for Grandstanding
  • 5-Minute Major for Lack of Foresight.
  • Game Misconduct for Shouting About His Own Rulebook and trying to intimate the refs.

He’s now slotted into the Penalty Box of Public Opinion—where he can stew until further notice (or until the receipts are diced down).

🏒 Official Statement

“Politicians cannot design the playbook, double the size of the league, demand solar-powered Zambonis, and then scream at the referees when the fans are stuck with higher ticket prices. That’s not refereeing error—that’s coaching without foresight.”

Banished to the Penalty Box, with ticket prices in hand.
